Choudhry Ghulam Mohyuddin Khan Sahib

Choudhry Ghulam Mohyuddin Khan (Choudhry Sahib) passed away on Monday, April 8th, 2015.

To Him we belong, and to Him we shall return. (2:156)

Choudhry Sahib was such a consistent attendee of Darul Islah, that it could be said that he was literally a pillar in the wall, never moving. I’ve been observing him for the past 14 years, strolling gingerly from his house down the street to the Masjid for every Salah, rain or shine. Despite his feeble body, he had a rock-solid Iman.

As I would be waiting often times for iqamah time to approach, I would hear the side door (Imam’s entrance) open, and in my mind I would start guessing if that’s Imam Sahib or Choudhry Sahib. Choudhry Sahib would come in, nicely suited up, shervani on the weekends, and a freshly-ironed shalwar qamees on other days, open up his chair (that he would bring with him) and enquire as to the time remaining for iqamah (his vision was weak). He would then perform his sunnah.

Choudhry Sahib was the epitome of being self-sufficient and independent. One of his neighbors informed me yesterday that often times he would hear Choudhry Sahib making du’a to Allah to keep him independent and not reliant upon others until his last breath. The entire community can testify to the fact that Allah accepted his du’a.

Choudhry Sahib had a vision that can only be spurred on by true faith and sincerity. Back in 2013, when I returned to Teaneck from studies and started serving the community, I began my weekly tafsir series with Surah Al-Kahf, and then other short surahs from the 30th juz. Choudhry Sahib approached me one day and informed me that I should not do such. He recommended that I start from the first juz, and finish the entire Qur’an in order, not matter how long it takes. He said that people never get an opportunity to listen/read to the tafsir of the entire Qur’an. If I were to conduct a cumulative tafsir, he continued, then people would benefit from a chronological tafsir, and perhaps a few would benefit from the entire Qur’an.

Taking his advice, I began from Surah Al-Fatihah. Over the months, he would attend my tafsir every Sunday, and from time to time voice his encouragement as well as his appreciation to me. He came up to me after tafsir as late as this past January and gave me a du’a, and encouraged me never to give this tafsir up.

I am currently on verse #181 of Surah Al-Baqarah (2nd Juz), and at this rate it’ll take me about 20+ years to complete my tafsir. He knew this, I know this. He has now passed on to Allah SWT. With his du’a and all of your du’as, I will continue and complete this tafsir, wherever it may be, however long it will take, and he will receive ALL of the reward in its complete and purest form, and the reward of all those who benefit from it and act upon it.

May Allah forgive him and his family and his progeny, and grant him Jannatul Firdaws. Ameen.

Repost

I found this statement interesting so want to share it here:

Here it is below:

With all the chaotic calumny and the endless vilification widespread amongst the people. We have to put things into perspective.

If Ml. Abdullah Saleem is facing an allegation, then the court is taking care of that and legal actions are taking place. Why then is IIE, an Independent Non-profit organization and religious Institution, being dragged into this?

How does bringing down a school do justice for an allegation against an employee and even that a former one?  How does snatching an organization from the subsequent authority have any connection with a disaffiliated man’s allegation? IF a man commits a personal crime, you try him, NOT an extraneous company.

Even more so, when a person is accused of a crime and he is dealt with by the law, publicly defaming is a serious violation of Islamic Law which strongly condemns libel and degradation EVEN if proven guilty.

Verily, those who like that (the crime of) illegal sexual intercourse should be propagated among those who believe, they will have a painful torment in this world and in the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you know not. (Nur:19)

Blaming or shaming victims is out of the question, public defaming is blasphemous (not justice) and is no less than a crime itself.

Islam under no case permits public trial as it promotes biased prejudgement and lacks justice through appropriate investigation and evidence analysis along with due process, therefore increasing chances of the guilty being exonerated and the innocent convicted.

The hauling of the school into the case is self-evident, public global smearing is simply a means to defame and confiscate the one of a kind institution. The ravenous attempt of ownership of an orthodox Islamic Madrasah, state-of-the art virtual High school, outstanding Masjid and an esteemed Community Center with a solid infrastructure, full-fledged, fully equipped to be grasped right at the fingertips.

The repercussions of the charges is the closing of the hafiz/ ‘aalim school, the unemployment of teachers and staff, the disarray of students.. without realizing, in order to defend victims, only more victims are being produced.

The motive of the case is obscure, whether the crime is about an alleged man and justice for the claimed victims or whether it’s resistance from an external power to gain control over an Independent Institution, – second one, clearly not a crime.
